In galactic terms, the Earth lives in a dangerous neighborhood. Seven times in the past humanity has reached for the stars, only to have their civilization destroyed by an extinction event. The scattered surviving pockets of humanity returned to a meager agrarian existence, with little or no retention of their prior technology and knowledge base. As fuel and food stocks were depleted, those survivors without the ability to acquire more, perished.

The Coastal Event Memories Series is a five Volume collection of novellas, which tell the stories of a group of people who survived a near-term extinction event, due to a combination of fate, tenacity, and a will to live, when millions of others perished.

Volume III tells the stories of a small band of a present-day extinction event survivors. This group of strangers ride out the Event in different New Mexico and Arizona locations. They came through the event due to a combination of fate, tenacity, and a will to live that helped these individuals survive where millions have perished. What these strangers have in common is family members located in California. They embark on a desperate run to the west, where they must avoid bands of ruthless cartel gangs bent on rape and murder and an impassable layer of volcanic lava and ash that covers everything to the north. Their world has changed forever, and they must face the challenges of just surviving, while attempting to retain at least a small part of the technology and civilization which had been reaching for the stars.
